We are organizing the Winter Camp at NÛN Schools Beykoz Campus in order to add joy to our students' semester holidays and to ensure that they have a more productive and fun time.
In our camp where we will explore nature in winter conditions, set up camp and go on a journey of discovery without listening to rain and mud, our students will get to know Istanbul closely with our coastal bicycle tours with history narration.
Can worms smell different foods? How much weight can a very strong insect lift? Are crickets happier alone or with friends?
There is a lush green world out there waiting to be discovered!
In the beautiful nature of Beykoz, we examine insect and plant species, observe and learn about soil types. We try to understand the place of living things in nature in the “human and environment” cycle and their impact on human nature, and try to find out how we can help. We experience and internalize what it means to be a team in Beykoz forest. As part of the program, we practice “orienteering” to improve orientation and map skills. In our nature walks, we integrate with nature with our journey of discovery. We receive first aid trainings along with survival activities in nature.
We set up tents, light fires and discover materials that can be used in nature. We learn to be respectful, tolerant and patient towards people and nature by developing our social responsibility awareness. We camp and make fire. We learn how to survive and live disciplined lives.
Our winter camp program consists of outdoor and indoor activities. Our campus, which is in nature, is regularly cleaned and periodically sprayed.
"Love, respect, justice, mercy, decency, responsibility"- which are also the values of our school - form the spirit of our summer camp, which covers students from primary and middle school. At our Beykoz Campus, we continue to implement activities focused on “sustainable living”, “life skills development” and “social leadership skills development” in touch with nature. Our students learn not in a fiction or simulation, but in reality and life, by feeling with all their senses. They experience the happiness of going one step beyond hearing, seeing, tasting, touching, smelling, reaching the meaning, discovering the truth, reaching the secret. In our activities, we see, feel and experience how science, science and matter lead people to knowledge, spirit and meaning. We seek knowledge not in the four walls or in front of the computer, but in the air, water, soil, forest; we find love, respect, decency, morality, ethics, tolerance, communication, cooperation on the way to seek knowledge. While their knowledge guides their emotions, their emotions tame their knowledge.
With the theme of “sustainable living” and “zero waste” during the developmental periods of our children, when sensitivity, sensitivity and skills are most easily acquired, we ensure that the practices in this field turn into behaviors by experiencing the ways and methods of waste-free living in our homes, schools, offices and gardens. We discover the equivalents of concepts such as waste, wastefulness, insensitivity, sensitivity, awareness, frugality, planning, time management in nature and in our lives. We open horizons for our students to build the future on these values.
We are trying to create environments for our primary school students to be kneaded with knowledge and skills, while we are trying to create environments where our secondary school students can create original works with original ideas and approaches to transform their knowledge and skills into scientific activities.
Contrary to fashionable and popular trends and trainings, our summer camp is designed in line with “ancient and functional” knowledge and skills. The development of cognitive, sensory and psychomotor areas is not achieved through verbal or visual transmission, but through “doing-living”. The Natural Sciences course has deepened our students' knowledge of soil, water, air and plants, while reinforcing their feelings of compassion, compassion, love and respect for plants and animals. We make our children realize that everything in nature is created in a balance and that protecting this balance is entrusted to the sensitivity of people. Each of our students gains sensitivity in these areas by seeing global issues such as “protection of nature” and “effective and sustainable use of natural resources” on site and with examples.
Our summer camp program consists entirely of outdoor activities. Our practices will take place in nature with social distancing measures. In our campus, we regularly carry out cleaning, periodic spraying, students, teachers and staff wearing masks and also disinfectants.
The health and safety of our children is of utmost importance to us.
